Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) welcomes the Panel on Education of the Legislative Council\u2019s decision to adopt the motion opposing the rezoning of the former Lee Wai Lee site and reserving the site for “Government, Institution or Community” use. A University\u2019s spokeperson said both the Kowloon City District Council and the Panel on Education of the Legislative Council have expressed opposition to the proposal of rezoning the site and support for retaining the land for \u201cGovernment, Institution or Community\u201d use. The rezoning proposal is undesirable and goes against the wishes of the community. HKBU hopes the Government will respect and take into consideration public opinion and withdraw its proposal.<\/p>\n

HKBU believes that members of the Town Planning Board would consider seriously the views of the Legislative Council, the District Council as well as the general public. The University community will continue to express its opposition to the Town Planning Board on an individual basis.<\/p>\n

HKBU reiterates that the rezoning of the site for a luxury residential project is an all-lose proposal as it fails to resolve the shortage of housing for people at the grass-roots level on the one hand and reduces the supply of land for education use on the other. The University is pleased to further discuss the issue with the Government.<\/p>\n

\u6d78\u5927\u91cd\u7533\uff0c\u628a\u6559\u80b2\u7528\u5730\u8b8a\u70ba\u9ad8\u7d1a\u4f4f\u5b85\u7528\u5730\uff0c\u65e2\u4e0d\u80fd\u89e3\u6c7a\u793e\u6703\u6700\u6025\u5207\u7684\u57fa\u5c64\u4f4f\u5c4b\u554f\u984c\uff0c\u53c8\u6d6a\u8cbb\u73cd\u8cb4\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u7528\u5730\uff0c\u662f\u96d9\u8f38\u7684\u65b9\u6848\u3002\u6d78\u5927\u5341\u5206\u6a02\u610f\u7e7c\u7e8c\u8207\u653f\u5e9c\u5546\u8a0e\u3002<\/p>\n
